Make me pretty

I am always keen and really particular when it comes to makeup especially on my big day.  Seriously, I am willing to spend  the most of my budget on bridal makeup just to have all eyes set on me on that day.  It is important to find a makeup artist that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Finding your best feature is the key to being a timeless beauty. Your makeup artist should hold both the experience and intuition to help you to find and accentuate your best assets. Have you got luscious Angelina Jolie lips? Huge almond Ann Hathaway eyes? Flawless honey skin like J.Lo? All this could be lost with a bad makeup application.

Here are a few tips to ensure that you look your best on your wedding day:

Your wedding day beauty preparation
It’s not uncommon for brides to get caught up in the chaos of planning their wedding, and to forget to give themselves some much deserved pampering! Starting an emergency beauty regime a few weeks before your big day it not the ideal solution.... The best plan of action is to get into a daily routine a minimum of 3 months in advance with some good skincare basics. Be sure get some daily exercise, plenty of sleep & plenty of water. Plus, if you’re out in the sun (even just on your way to work in the morning) always use sunscreen. It is not necessary to spend a fortune on professional facials as long as you are caring for your skin.

Top three tips
1. Book a makeup trial early so you can make sure you’ve chosen the right person for the job
2. Don’t experiment with a new look on the day of the wedding
3. Visit the dentist - your smile will be your biggest asset!

Choosing the right colors to suit your skin tones and hair color
A makeup artist with years of experience will easily be able to identify the best colour tones for your skin based on whether your skin tone is naturally cool, warm or neutral. It is also important to take into consideration eye colour & natural skin/hair colour. Be sure to trial your chosen colours before the big day to ensure you are happy with the final look. Note: spray tans will change your base colour slightly, so make sure you inform your makeup artist if you plan on hitting the tanning booth closer to your wedding day.

What if I don't usually wear much makeup?
Most brides wish to enhance their natural beauty rather than looking overly 'made up'.  Using softer hues such as peach or shell on the eye area and a fresh cheek colour with a bright summery gloss on the lips is the perfect look for a fresh summer bride.

Questions to ask your makeup artist:
  1. How many years experience do you have?
  2. Where did you complete your training?
  3. What products do you use? (Note: if they only use 1 specific brand this could be cause for concern as the focus may be more on product sales, rather than makeup technique)
  4. Do you have a folio I can view? You will be the best judge of whether you like their work, and feel that it fits your personal style.

How do I keep my make-up looking great all the way through the reception?
Your makeup artist is the key! When creating your wedding look, your makeup artist should use a primer, professional products and a great finishing product like 'model in a bottle' (setting spray). Once your initial makeup is finished, all you should need to do is carry a translucent powder & lipstick. Tip: don’t overuse concealer - you'll be doing a lot of smiling and it often emphasise crows feet!

Top 5 tips for achieving a gorgeous look for your wedding!
  1. Be organised! Have your hair & makeup stylist come to you on the morning of the wedding so you can be relaxed and start the day calmly.
  2. Being happy is the best beauty tip of all! Everyone looks gorgeous when they are smiling.
  3. Make sure you are completely comfortable in your makeup and hairstyle - if you don’t love them, you won't love your photos
  4. Know your own style. Don’t try to be someone that you’re not!
  5. Wear waterproof mascara!
